Haverford High School is the high school I went to from 2005-2009 and graduated from. It is a 4-year (8th to 12th) public high school with about 1,600 students.

Description

Haverford is a four year, academically oriented, public secondary school. The high school is accredited by the Middle States Association and the Pennsylvania Department of Education. There are approximately 1857 students enrolled in grades 9 through 12. The administration and faculty of the high school provide opportunities for students to develop their potential as individuals. Block scheduling was implemented in the 1995- 1996 School Year. The school day consists of four instructional blocks that are 85 minutes in length. The school year has been divided into two 18 week semesters and four 9 week quarters. It is possible for students to schedule up to 8.4 credits per school year.

District

Haverford Township is part of the Main Line area of suburban Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Haverford Township’s population is 48,500 and is comprised of middle to upper-middle class. The total student enrollment in the seven schools of the District of Haverford Township equals nearly 5500 students.

Curriculum

With 186 different courses, Haverford offers each student the opportunity to develop an individualized academic program. Courses are offered on three levels: Level 1 (Honors and Advanced Placement), Level 2 (College Preparatory) and Level 3 (Career Track). Students must earn 27.0 credits to meet graduation requirements. Sixteen Advanced Placement courses are offered in the areas of: Art, Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, Ecology, Economics, English, European History, Government, Physics, Statistics and World Language. Students may also attend Delaware County Technical School for vocational education and training. Haverford also offers a comprehensive Learning Support Program for students who require special instruction.

IAG Program

The Integrated Algebra/Geometry Math Program (IAG) uses the Interactive Mathematics Program as its resource for mathematics instruction. A student completing IAG I, II, III and IV has completed the equivalent of Algebra I and II, Geometry, Trigonometry and Advanced Algebra. IAG I, II and III are the core graduation requirements.
