− | Dear Mom, I | + | Dear Mom, I'm enjoying my trip to India. Everything's different here. Well I thought I might send you this card to let you know I'm all right and to tell you about my trip so far. Last night I visited the great Ganges River. The Ganges is the holiest river in India. Hindus even think of it as a goddess, or at least part of one. Did you know that Hindus are actually monotheistic? However, they believe that their god takes thousands of forms. Well anyway, I got to witness a religious ceremony. There was fire! They use fire, among other things, to honor their gods. Most Indians have a shrine in their houses. They offer goods to their gods. That means that Hindus do need to go to temple regulary. Jeeze, I wish I could do that; I would be able to sleep in on Saturday mornings! India really represents a unique culture of the world. I hope your doing good Mom, I having a great time in India. -Plaz |
