The Reason- Hoobastank.
 +
 +
I chose to use the song “The Reason” by Hoobastank because it relates to the part in Nectar in a Sieve where Rukmani goes back into their home to see Ira, since she savagely attacked her.  In the Song it says:
 +
I'm sorry that I hurt you
 +
it's something I must live with everyday
 +
and all the pain I put you through
 +
I wish that I could take it all away
 +
and be the one who catches all your tears
 +
This stanza basically shows what Rukmani was saying and thinking after she attacked Ira, and went into see her.  She obviously felt very bad after she did this and the mood of the song is also very soothing and mournful sounding and this is another reason why I used this song.

This instrumental track from India tells the story which the narrator travels.  It starts out with her marriage, a magical time full of hope and promise.  As with all Indian celebrations, the oldist is lavishly spoiled while the last in the family has nothing.  Married life starts out slow, with only a daughter for the first few years.  But all of a sudden, it takes off.  Year after year, another son is born.  Then her life is up and down.  From a rich harvest to drought and famine, the narrator's life is very dynamic.  Her life ends as she is forced off her land into the crowded city.  Overall, the energy of this score mirrors the narrator's life.

Vindicated

by: Dashboard Confessional Album: Spider-Man 2 Music From and Inspired by the Motion Picture

Hope dangles on a string Like slow spinning redemption Winding in and winding out The shine of which has caught my eye

And roped me in So mesmerizing, so hypnotizing I am captivated

[Chorus] I am Vindicated I am selfish I am wrong I am right I swear I'm right I swear I knew it all along

And I am flawed But I am cleaning up so well I am seeing in me now the things you swore you saw yourself

So clear Like the diamond in your ring Cut to mirror your intentions Oversized and overwhelmed The shine of which has caught my eye And rendered me so isoloated, so motivated I am certain now that

[Chorus]

So turn Up the corners of your lips Part them and feel my finger tips Trace the moment, fall forever Defense is paper thin Just one touch and I'd be in Too deep now to ever swim against the current So let me slip away [3x] So let me slip against the current and let me slip away [4x]

[Chorus]

Slight hope It dangles on a string Like slow spinning redemption...

Life is a Highway

by: Rascal Flatts Album: Cars Soundtrack Life's like a road that you travel on When there's ne day here and the next day gone Somethimes you bend and sometimes you stand Sometimes you turn your head to the wind There's a world outside ev'ry darkened door Where blues won't haunt you anymore Where brave are free and lovers soar Come ride with me to the distant shore We won't hesitate Break down the garden's gate There's not much time left today

Life is a highway I wanna ride it all night long If you're going my way I wanna drive it all night long

Through all these cities and all these towns It's in my blood and it's all around I love you now like I loved you then This is the road and these are the hands From Mozambique to those Memphis nights The khyber Pass to Vancouver's lights

Knock me down get back up again You're in my blood I'm not a lonely man There's no load I can't hold Road so rough this I know I'll be there when the light comes in Just tell 'em we're survivors

Gimme gimme gimme gimme yeah If you're going my way I wanna drive it all night long There was a distance between you and I A misunderstanding once But now we look in the eye

There ain't no load that I can't hold Road so rough this I know I'll be there when the light comes in Just tell 'em we're survivors

Life is a highway I wanna ride it all night long If you're going my way I wanna drive it all night long

Although the narrator has never heard of an automobile, her life is a journey, even though she has never traveled anywhere. It has it's up and downs, and rough spots. But overall it's a positive experience. It brings people together and closer, as her trials and tribulations only brought her closer to her husband. But in the end (??) she survives all of the problems (list).
